Turkey
is a country with contrasting scenery from rugged mountains to beautiful
beaches. It is a country rich in legend, historical sites and treasures.
The major cities and holiday resorts are lively, bustling and cosmopolitan
and yet in the rural areas and villages just outside you encounter at
first hand a way of life reminiscent of rural Ireland in the early part
of the last century. The main tourist resorts in Turkey are located
along the western coast which bounds the Aegean Sea and the Southern
Mediterranean coast. We could write a full volume on this wonderful
country and still only scrape the surface. Therefore we recommend that
a visit to Turkey with its extremely hospitable people is the only way
to really get to know it. We know you will not be disappointed.
Accommodation
Turkey is not like any other Mediterranean country - that's no surprise - and
consequently the style of some accommodation may be different from what you
have been used to in, say, Spain. However, we have carefully selected our accommodation
to provide maximum comfort and many of the hotels and apartments we feature
compare more than favourably with Western European standards. Please note however
that the general standard of the local infrastructure such as roads and footpaths
may fall well short of what we are used to at home.
Fridges in all self catering properties are small to medium sized and we strongly
advise against bringing frozen food with you when going on holidays.
Electricity supply in Turkey is not as reliable as at home and services such
as air conditioning and lifts may be affected by low voltage or power cuts especially
in high season. > more
