Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary islands and the one closest to Africa. Its landscape is largely rocky but with mile upon mile of untouched golden, sand beaches and dunes, some of the finest in Europe. Fuerteventura enjoys the year round heat of Africa made all the more pleasant by the Atlantic breezes. Quieter than the other islands, Fuerteventura is also less built-up and commercial and visitors are attracted by the tranquil atmosphere and the wonderful, unspoilt beaches. The main resorts offer a selection of bars, cafés, shops and some of the best fish restaurants in the Canaries, whilst also offering the small, traditional restaurants throughout the island that offer delicious, fresh Canarian cuisine. For anyone with an interest in watersports, especially wind-surfing and scuba-diving, the island’s perfect weather, water and wind conditions offer unlimited options. Those wishing to explore a little further afield will find that there are plenty of possibilities. Lanzarote can be reached by ferry from Corralejo in approx. 40 minutes and is a very pleasant journey. The volcanic island of Lobos (with a total area of just 6km) is also accessible from Corralejo and offers a lovely day trip. Fuerteventura has something for everyone.
